About This Beer
To craft their special anniversary Imperial Stout, Fremont blended 3 different Barrel Aged Stouts, bringing an array of nuance in this celebratory batch:
The first, aged in 8-10-year-old Heaven Hill bourbon barrels
The second, aged in 8-10-year-old Heaven Hill bourbon barrels with tart Montmorency and dark tart cherries
The third, aged in ex-bourbon vanilla extract barrels!
Tasting Notes
This intensely sweet vintage could stretch a sly smile across the face of the biggest Grinch! Notes of gooey caramel, mocha, and belly-warming booze envelop your palate with cherries bursting from each sip with a bright, fruity pop!

Whilst the cherry is rather subtle to me, it’s also more like real cherry as opposed to cherry flavour. The vanilla and bourbon barrel ageing flavours come through more so.

Cherry beers require a delicate balance. Unfortunately the cherry, I think, is lacking only a tad, which is usually the opposite of the case. But what I really liked about this one, was the vanilla extract barrel age that provides the purest vanilla flavor in anything I've ever tasted.

Great blend of malts and bourbon. Caramel flavors poke through and cherries lightly float in at the end.

Another tasty Fremont, but unsurprisingly the cherries gave this one a tiny bit of extra sweetness that downgraded it ever so slightly for me.
