Braxton Brewing co-founder Evan Rouse calls this year’s Dark Charge Imperial Stout release “a lineup unlike ever before.” He says the brewers “couldn’t be more excited about it.”
Us too! Normally, only Cincinnati craft fans get access to these luscious barrel-aged Stouts at Braxton’s annual Winter Block Party. But, now we’re decking the beer fridge and getting extra jolly, because we secured a limited stash just for Tavour!
Time to push aside the eggnog and get a much more decadent boozy-bourbon fix with this special three-bottle bundle:
Dark Charge Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout - 13% ABV
It’s the original recipe that launched all the Dark Charge fandom, and it’s the same Imperial Stout that Braxton starts with for all their variants. Notes of dark chocolate and coffee swirl in its obsidian pour, punctuated with whispers of oak, leather, molasses, and vanilla from a year of aging in bourbon barrels.
It’s the kind of beer that’s made for sipping next to a fireplace on a chilly winter night. Though, with its boozy warmth emanating from each sip, you may not even need to build a fire!
Dark Charge Bourbon Barrel-Aged Vanilla - 13% ABV
Madagascar vanilla beans and Dark Charge BA Imperial Stout are a match made in heaven. In this mouthwateringly silky variant, vanilla additions coax out the bourbon barrels’ vanilla notes even further. The natural oak and molasses notes stay strong too, shining through in delicious contrast. It’s just the kind of creamy bliss needed after a long day of holiday activities.
Dark Charge Bourbon Barrel-Aged Tiramisu - 13% ABV
When this bottle of pure opulence first debuted in 2017, Braxton’s fans compared it to “vanilla-soaked espresso” and “ice cream!” Now it’s back in all its baking spice, mocha, and creamy vanilla finery!
To craft it, the Braxton folks infused the original BA Imperial Stout with espresso roast coffee, Madagascar vanilla beans, and cocoa nibs. It pairs well with holiday pies and cookies, though who are we kidding — this beer IS the dessert everyone will want a taste of this year.
Enjoy these three special bottles now, or cellar them for the gift that keeps on giving with increasingly mellow bourbon notes!
Brewbound honored Braxton Brewing with this year’s Rising Star Award!
*We stocked up on as many bottles as Braxton was willing to give us, but we apologize that we aren’t able to accommodate everyone!
