A Note on This Beer
Ranked the #2 Oatmeal Stout in the World on BeerAdvocate with a world-class 100/100 score, this brew is the pinnacle of dark beer decadence!
It’s the 2017 vintage of Fremont’s Bourbon Barrel-Aged Dark Star: Coffee Edition!
Seattle’s Fremont crew crafted it by blending Stouts that had been barrel-aged 8, 12, and 18 months and loading the mix into twelve-year-old Kentucky bourbon barrels. Then they complemented its opulent barrel-aging notes with coffee.
Four years in the cellar only added to the complexity, mellowing the 13.1% ABV into liquid velvet and richening the brew’s oaky, dark-chocolate depths.
Each impossibly smooth, full sip cascades with rich notes of creamy dark cocoa, roasty espresso, and sweet toffee before easing into a mocha-kissed whiskey finish.
The crème de la crème of Oatmeal Stouts and a crown gem for any cellar, this barrel-aged bliss will gracefully age for years to come, not to mention redefine Stouts for anyone you deem worthy enough to share it with. Grab a bottle from our 20-case stash while you can!
