A Note on This Beer

The first thing you need to know about today’s 2-pack from Destination Unknown is that they’re both boldly boozy!

Abuse of Stout: Dark Chocolate Orange tips the scales at a massive 12% ABV, while Abuse of Science 2 IIPA clocks in at a whopping 11% ABV!

You’ll have to keep reminding yourself of that fact as you sip Abuse of Stout — you’ll barely detect a trace of all that booze! The crew at DUBCO hid it behind rich additions of real honey, smooth vanilla, rich cacao nibs, and tangy orange.

It really does taste like one of those chocolate oranges you whack on the table so it falls apart into sections when you unwrap it. Like velvety chocolate with just enough citrus flavor to harmonize, and not overpower.

Abuse of Science is just as deceptively smooth as it’s Stout companion. You won’t percieve a hint of that massive ABV behind all the layers of nectarous pineapple, bright orange peel, and juicy passion fruit as they blend with sweeping flavors of freshly cut pine.

When you try it, you might even think the brewers used a touch of actual citrus, but all those flavors flow from a massive dry-hopping with Cryo Simcoe, Cryo Citra, Motueka, and Vic Secret Hops!

There’s still plenty of winter left to go, but with these brews in the fridge you can keep yourself rosy cheeked and smiling through the darkest months. You might want to invite a buddy around to share in your cold weather revelry, though — these boozy brews are big enough for sharing!

With Tavour, it's easy to beer it forward! Just head over to Tavour.com/gifts to send a gift box or gift card to the craft beer lover in your life. Cheers!

Both flavors present - Dark Chocolate and Orange. The orange could have been a little more forward and it would have been killer. Still enjoyable though.

Yes it’s had an orange taste. Yes it had deal choc. But otherwise surprisingly thin. It was okay, but I wanted so much more punchlines out of this

Nice touch of orange and chocolate. Just enough sweet to make this the dessert beer of the evening!

Strong chocolaty stout with some lovely mild orange notes, AND a hint of coffee. Solid purchase.

It's good for a chocolate stout, but I'm just not getting the orange... Maybe if I had it next to the regular I'd taste the difference.

Only reason I drank an IPA was because it came with this stout. Disappointed. No orange. Not a bad stout, but sad over the lack of orange.

Cocoa Nibs aroma with subtle notes of orange, roasty taste, thin mouthfeel, and a hint of vanilla and alcohol warmth in the finish.

Can definitely taste the chocolate and the orange. Wasn’t as smooth as other stouts but still a very good beer

Some imperial stouts are too strong but I think this one has the right balance. Delicious!

I was maybe expecting a stronger orange flavor here but the dark chocolate combo, even on the more subtle end, was nice. Well made stouts of this ABV really hide it well, as exhibited here.

Aroma of chocolate and light orange. Chocolate notes up front with the honey and orange mixing together midway through the taste. Not a fan of those two flavors together.

Not a ton of flavor to go around for an imperial work adjuncts. Kinda bummed about that one.

You get both flavors and it isn’t too strong being that it’s ABV is 12%. 100% recommend.
