A Note on This Beer
The first thing you need to know about today’s 2-pack from Destination Unknown is that they’re both boldly boozy!
Abuse of Stout: Dark Chocolate Orange tips the scales at a massive 12% ABV, while Abuse of Science 2 IIPA clocks in at a whopping 11% ABV!
You’ll have to keep reminding yourself of that fact as you sip Abuse of Stout — you’ll barely detect a trace of all that booze! The crew at DUBCO hid it behind rich additions of real honey, smooth vanilla, rich cacao nibs, and tangy orange.
It really does taste like one of those chocolate oranges you whack on the table so it falls apart into sections when you unwrap it. Like velvety chocolate with just enough citrus flavor to harmonize, and not overpower.
Abuse of Science is just as deceptively smooth as it’s Stout companion. You won’t percieve a hint of that massive ABV behind all the layers of nectarous pineapple, bright orange peel, and juicy passion fruit as they blend with sweeping flavors of freshly cut pine.
When you try it, you might even think the brewers used a touch of actual citrus, but all those flavors flow from a massive dry-hopping with Cryo Simcoe, Cryo Citra, Motueka, and Vic Secret Hops!
There’s still plenty of winter left to go, but with these brews in the fridge you can keep yourself rosy cheeked and smiling through the darkest months. You might want to invite a buddy around to share in your cold weather revelry, though — these boozy brews are big enough for sharing!
