About This Beer
Drake’s expansive barrel aging program leads them to making some of the coolest, funkiest spins on the BBA Stout style. But this Amburana Death Of The Sun may be one of their most adventurous. Using the “miracle oak of Brazil,” the Californians add a great deal of winter spice complexity to their already opulently sweet Stout base!
Tasting Notes
The bourbon and amburana character seems to sway back and forth like a seesaw of opulence. Chocolate, then gingerbread. Vanilla, then cinnamon. The complexities take your taste buds on this dynamic journey that you’ve likely never experienced before!

Phenomenal! Incredibly well balanced and silky smooth. The roasty bitterness goes perfectly with the strong barrel flavors. Medium sweetness ties it all together.

Someone else said raisin taste and yeah that's accurate. one sip tasted good, where another was funky in a confusing way.

Complex but bitter. I feel like it falls short of being great.

Amburana chips come through with the sweetness. Smooth vanilla and chocolate flavors with a slight barrel heat.

Thinner body than I expected, but each sip carries intense notes of dark chocolate, black coffee, vanilla, and liberal amounts of earthy spices such as cinnamon and allspice. Prominent bourbon and wood characters, and a fitting way to embrace the holiday.
