A Note on This Beer
“What a delight,” says New Jersey local Jeff D. “Beyond impressed.”
That’s a common reaction to The Referend Bier Blendery’s unique brews. They’re all the more impressive considering the brewer’s dedication to strict spontaneous fermentations, local sourcing, and lengthy development times.
The results speak for themselves –– Lambic beer and Farmhouse Ale fans won’t want to miss today’s rare ode to rhubarb!
The NJ crew started with a Golden Ale spontaneously fermented in a single 500L French oak red wine puncheon for 2.5 years.
Then, they macerated heaps of Garden State-grown rhubarb in the puncheon for an additional two months.
Finally, they bottle conditioned the brew for almost a year for a smart, effervescent body.
The culmination of all that craft is a funky, flavorful beer with a hazy, golden glow. Each tart quaff carries deep crimson fruit notes complimented by sweet and sharp rhubarb which lingers through to the dry, tannic finish.
But, if you want to have the most distinguished beer cellar on the block or just want to be one of the lucky few Lambic fans who gets to sample The Referend’s remarkable rhubarb craft, we only have 180 bottles!
