A Note on This Beer
I taste between 15 and 20 new IPAs a week, and I can confidently say that New Anthem’s are the pinnacle of excellence.
By experimenting with boil temperatures and fine-tuning hop quantities and malt bills, brewer Aaron Skiles and his North Carolina team craft seriously lush, drinkable succulence.
And it’s not just me who considers New Anthem’s hopjuice akin to ambrosial nectar — those of you who’ve already snagged tastes have given every last one on Tavour 4+ ratings!
The bar’s obviously pretty darn high now, though I’m pleased to say the brewery’s latest batch is up to snuff. Nearly 4,000 hopheads on Untappd think so too — The Amen Break holds an impressive 4.30 score!
This Hazy hopbomb packs the goods. Starting with a fluffy-thick base of pale malt, Munich malt, and oats, Skiles and his crew hopped the brew with a lineup of Mosaic, Citra, Simcoe, and El Dorado. Dreamy tangerine and candied pineapple float in upfront, followed by fuzzy peach and a berry medley.
It’s dank and super soft in texture, like freshly-blended juice with wafts of kush. And there’s little trace of the 8% ABV!
Once you take one break with this hoppy chorus, it’s easy to crave another. So I definitely recommend snagging extra cans — I know I am.
Rated 4.30 on Untappd, which, as you probably know, is super rare for an IPA! New Anthem’s hop prowess even earned them acclaim as a Craft Beer & Brewing ‘Breakout Brewer.’
