A Note on This Beer
One of Craft Beer & Brewing’s Top 3 Small Breweries is still a secret in craft community. The husband and wife duo at Dwinell Country Ales conjure masterpieces that exemplify the terroir of the arid Columbia Gorge region tucked away about four hours east of Seattle,
A 4.37 rated spontaneously-fermented Wheat Ale is one of the highest rated wild ales that has come around in a while. With all the natural, wild flavors of Washington farm country, the brew crew has done it again!
To make it, the brewers spontaneously fermented the base with the wild cultures found in the air around the brewery, creating natural funk flavors specific to the dry, yet fertile climate of the area.
After maturing the brew in oak, the Dwinell crew kicked everything up a notch with additions of beautiful Obsidian blackberries, creating a delicious splash of berry tartness. Blend that with the pressings of Marie Menard apples (the varietal used in many French Ciders), and you’ve got a robust blend of sour and sweet — thirst-quenching and mouth-puckering in every pour!
Since BA Bramble Berry comes in a 500ml bottle, each one comes with two delicate, celebratory pours. I’m grabbing mine for my housewarming party; how will you drink your taste of Washingtonian terroir?
