A Note on This Beer
The key to achieving a perfect layer cake is, according to Google, to let it cool completely before stacking, then allow the creamy filling between each layer to set before frosting all over.
And if you’re like me, you don’t have time for any of that. I want that chocolatey goodness now!
Fortunately, the brew-chefs at Chicago’s Pipeworks already did the baking and setting for us sweet-toothed craft fans. They packed today’s Baked and Layered Imperial Milk Stout with a baker’s envy of chocolate malts, lactose, cacao nib, toasted coconut, and vanilla!
Each sip is like biting into a fudgy, freshly-baked German chocolate cake! Only, you’ll find it’s even more succulent, thanks to its creamy body.
Baked and Layered comes with a buzzing 10.5% ABV, too — I’d like to see any time-consuming layer cake do that.
*Chicago Magazine says, “The brewers at Pipeworks rarely repeat a recipe, but when they do, it’s because they’ve created a classic.” Hawkeyed Tavour fans may notice that we had Pipeworks’ previous Baked and Layered batch back in 2019!
