A Note on This Beer
Baltic Porters like Baltic Sunrise are notoriously challenging to brew.
The style is actually more akin to a Lager than a regular English or American-style Porter. The use of clean, crisp Lager yeast makes for a very sippable body even with a high level of booziness. But, it also means little flaws can shine right through.
Unless, of course, it’s crafted by masters like the World Beer Cup medalists at Hardywood Park!
For this 9.4% ABV rendition, the Hardywood Park team deftly coaxed out rich, robust mocha flavors from chocolate malts. Then, they sealed in extra layers of earthy warmth by conditioning the brew on coffee beans from a local roastery.
To really enjoy all of the brew’s tasty nuances, we recommend pouring Baltic Sunrise into a glass and letting it open up a bit before sipping. Of course, that’s only if you manage to grab a bottle of this exemplary Baltic Porter before our stash runs out.
Cheers!
*Thrillist named Hardywood Park one of the Best Breweries in Richmond!
