A Note on This Beer
When I heard that the badass brewers at Dust Bowl were creating a barrel-aged blend of their biggest dark brews, I almost passed out in a boozy stupor like I did the first time I visited the brewery.
It was a scorching summer day in California, and brewmaster Don Oliver took me into the cellar and let me sample his GABF award-winning dark creations straight from the barrel.
Sweat rolled down my forehead as I tossed back glass after glass of sinfully smooth brews, trying to keep up with these high ABV masters. After four of five drinks, things got a little blurry, the floor started to get closer...and well, you know the rest.
It only took one sip of today’s 12% ABV 10 Year Anniversary Barrel Aged Blend to confirm my theory that Dust Bowl’s massive brews are not for the faint of heart!
These guys have been walloping palates for years with obscenely boozy and flavorful brews — the last mega-brew we had from them was so popular that it sold out instantly and earned a huge 4.11 rating from our members!
Today’s limited edition blend contains four of their booziest dark brews: a GABF Gold-winning Brandy Barrel Aged Baltic Porter, a Whiskey Barrel Aged Stock Ale, a Russian Imperial Stout, AND an American Strong Ale.
And if that wasn’t enough to create bolder than bold flavors, the brewers aged the blend in Oak Barrels! It’s like the brewery’s greatest hits, but remastered with smoky, earthy notes that make it oh-so smooth.
Layers of warm vanilla, sweet caramel, and toasted coconut wash over the palate as hints of whiskey greet the taste buds. Big malty notes follow for a robust body that is thicker than molasses. Smoky tobacco from oak-aging appears on the finish and makes this treat so smooth.
Hack off the golden wax, take a sip, and you’ll feel like you’re drinking straight from Don’s barrels. Just be sure to share this wax-dipped bottle with a friend or two, to give them a lesson in the boozy arts.
