A Note on This Beer

When I heard Collective Arts dropped the 2020 version of their Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Porter, my mouth started watering and my dessert-lovin’ heart skipped a beat!

Last year, every last decadent drop disappeared lickety-split.

This time around, we have 45 cases to share. They aged this luxurious powerhouse in Kentucky bourbon barrels for a year, for a smooth combination of rich bakers chocolate, velvety-soft vanilla, and earthy oak flavors. It even comes with a dangerously discreet 11.5% ABV to boot!

It’s as dreamy as a freshly baked Devil’s Food cake, and dark as motor oil. Flavors of sweet leaf tobacco, top-shelf bourbon, and dried figs swirl alongside the luscious cocoa and vanilla.

One thing’s for sure — this is the kind of treat Dark Beer lovers fiend for. Which means, it’s meant to be savored on a special occasion, with those who will appreciate it most!

*The World Beer Cup, the International Brewing Awards, and at the Ontario and Canadian Brewing Awards have recognized Collective Arts for their brewing excellence!

With Tavour, it's easy to beer it forward! Just head over to Tavour.com/gifts to send a gift box or gift card to the craft beer lover in your life. Cheers!

Great flavor, not too boozy. You can definitely taste the bourbon but not overpowering. The figs make for an interesting taste, love it.

Very rarely find a dark beer with notes of tobacco, and this one does it very well

Truly outstanding. Smooth porter with nice spikes of the bourbon. Very subtle chocolate flavors.

First barrel aged porter and it is a beauty! Great roasted charred malt notes leaving you with semisweet bakers chocolate, dark smokey cacao into a smooth soft and subtle woody bourbon finish. Balanced and delicate for a porter. Would buy again!

The right amount of booze with a touch of warmth. Can taste the chocolate notes, but they aren't too sweet. Nicely done!

It's not often you find an ultra-fine and smooth barrel-aged porter from our friends to the north, but here we are. This one was practically perfect. Nothing fancy. Just a skillfully executed porter.

Not often do you see an imperial porter... really good and not as sweet or malty as a stout!

Just ok. There's not too much to write home about. Nothing in the way of flavor really came through for me.

Actually rather disappointing. Nice packaging and presentation but the beer did not live up to it. It was lacking depth and flavor with little to no aftertaste. A bit hollow.

The bourbon flavor was pretty strong but over all it was a good porter. I liked that it didn’t taste like coffee. Truly it just shouldn’t have followed the “Last Deuce” because it was basically perfection in a bottle.

The strength of the booze kind of took over the flavor. Still a smooth drinkable beer though
