About This Beer
The brewers started with a massive pile of imported Munich Malt for absolutely authentic flavors of bread crust, caramel, and toffee. Then they barrel aged the brew to add hints of oak and a rounded nuttiness that comes through on the finish.
Tasting Notes
It’s massively malty, just like a Doppelbock should be, but with added complexity from the barrel.

There’s a bittersweet flavor that I just don’t like. I also don’t like dopplebocks.

16oz can from Tavour. Dark brown pour, a few bubbles, then flat. Aroma is sweet, nutty, woody, boozy. Taste is raisins, currants, brown sugar, light whiskey notes. Feels pretty strong at 9.3%.

too sweet and not enough flavor

5/18/22 sweet as all get up, but it works incredibly well with the whiskey barrels (is that Rye?) dark fruit, especially plums and figs, soaked in vanillin whiskey with a solid spiciness to the drying finish. HF doesn’t disappoint with BA ales.
