A Note on This Beer
Do you want a Coffee-infused beer or a Bourbon Barrel-Aged beer? Coffee or Booze? Barrels or Beans?! BARRELS. OR. BEANS?!
While you’re pondering the pros and cons of barrels over beans, the World Beer Awards Gold Medalists at Maine’s Allagash are thinking, “why not both?”
So, they took their Belgian-style Tripel and aged it for 2 months in Bourbon Barrels for robust blasts of warm, whiskey caramel, and oaky vanilla. Then, they blended it all together with locally-sourced cold brew for roasty notes of dark berries and espresso.
What they got was the aptly named and highly-sought-after Barrel & Bean!
Previously known as James Bean, this Bourbon Barrel-Aged beauty is a master among coffee-infused beers.
Not only does it rule with a score of 91/100 on BeerAdvocate, but it’s also the #14 Belgian Tripel in the World. It beats out Tripels from some of the biggest names in Belgian-style brewing, including Monkish, New Holland, and even Le Trou du Diable!
If you wanna taste what all the hype’s about, you gotta act fast — our tiny stash is about to go flyin’ once the Allagash die-hards catch wind of this!
Score your bottles of Barrel & Bean and you’ll never have to choose between Coffee or Bourbon Barrels again. Or, just enjoy the incredibly smooth boozebomb for what it is: one of the best Belgian Tripels money can buy!
Rated 91/100, #14 Belgian Tripel in the World on BeerAdvocate
