A Note on This Beer
We went to Adelbert’s Brewery and asked, “Got some of the good stuff left? You know, that 2015 vintage of Barrel of Love that the Tavour community gave an impressive 4.44 for its rich Belgian Quad complexity?”
They dug deep into their cellar and hooked us up with more Barrel of Love 2015, and after another year of aging, it’s developed even more dark fruit and molasses notes!
Belgian Quads only get better with age: after two years of aging in the bottle, Barrel of Love 2015 drips with caramelized figs and sweet, dried plums from dark Belgian Candy syrup and Trappist yeast. Aging this Belgian-style Quad in Treaty Oak Distilling whiskey barrels bring a soothing vanilla-caramel and a touch of rye spices to its warm, boozy 11% ABV body. Like an indulgent Christmas pudding, Barrel of Love is wrapped up in brown sugar bourbon and layers of complexity, stamping your palate with toffee and St. Bernardus-like richness.
This is one barrel we love diving into again and again, especially the 2015 vintage – Untappd users have given this brew a lot of love, too, rating it 4.17. One of the rising stars of Texas craft beer for their GABF award-winning Belgian brews, Adelbert’s knows how to cellar a Quad to perfection – just take a sip of Barrel of Love 2015, and you’ll see what we mean.
