A Note on This Beer
When Jester King announced the third ever release of Bière De Syrah, some sucker left a comment asking if they could get it in the U.K.
And to that I say: HAHAHA! The brewery’s not even distributing this 97/100 BA-rated sipper in their home state of Texas, you FOOL!
Honestly, you might as well be asking about its availability on Neptune. The planet.
If you’re into Wild Ales at all, you’ve at least heard of Jester King. This crew topped Craft Beer and Brewing’s 2019 Reader’s Choice Poll for Favorite Sour or Wild Brewery, AND took 5th in Paste Mag’s Most Important Breweries of the 2010’s.
And this is one of their most sought after creations. Take that hopeful Brit begging for a bottle — he’s offering a stack of cash for some benevolent Texan to ship one across the Atlantic!
But with just over 1,000 bottles available at the brewery and a 3-per-customer limit, good luck getting anyone to part with their own stash of Bière De Syrah.
To make it, Jester King took one of their signature Wild Ales and allowed it to mature in oak barrels for over a year. Then they added crushed, Texas-grown Syrah grapes and refermented it with the fruit before naturally conditioning the beer in bottles.
The finished brew is a symphony of oaky complexity wrapped in a vinous blanket of dark fruit and wine-like tannins. It’s tart, wildly funky, and replete with notes of cherry, raspberry, and grape. Everything you’d want in a fine red wine and so much more!
No wonder people from all over the world are trying to snag a sip!
And today, you’re among the lucky few who actually CAN, because we managed to sneak a few hundred bottles of Bière De Syrah out of the Lone Star State! If you’re feeling really generous, you could even find that hapless European on Jester King’s Instagram and offer to ship a bottle.
Or at least find out how much cash he’s offering… but it’s probably not even close to enough.
