A Note on This Beer
With Side Project Brewing’s latest batch of Biere du Pays already scoring a 4.34 on Untappd, it’s a great introduction to their catalogue of barrel mastery. As the #1 Brewery in Missouri on BeerAdvocate and exclusively a barrel-aging brewery, Side Project’s brews will make you the envy of any Farmhouse fan who’d trade their most beloved de Garde just to get a sip of this renowned brewery.
For our first official Side Project Saison, we got our hands on their “Beer of the Country” made of wild Oude Fermier cultures and aged in oak Chardonnay barrels all native to Missouri. As a Table Saison, the effervescent and easy-sipping Biere du Pays can be enjoyed all day long – and deserves a spot on every Farmhouse fan’s table for its wild lemony tang and hints of vinous fruit.
Earthy barnyard and vanilla oak aromas float from a hazy golden pour. Lemon juice swirls with rustic hay and a Chardonnay-like fruitiness of fresh pineapple and white grapes. Grapefruit pulp and passionfruit notes add even more citric tanginess. Orange peel and a hint of wild funk rise before ending with a biscuity-crisp finish.
Biere du Pays scored a perfect 100 in a blind taste test judged by the top cicerones in the country (BJCP reviewers) for Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine --unsurprising for a brewery with 8 of the Top 100 Saisons and Farmhouse Ales in the world on BeerAdvocate. This brew is a unique opportunity to get a taste of one of craft beer’s current gems!
