A Note on This Beer
Today we’re bringing back a brew from the Tavour “Hall Of Fame.” It’s one of the few annual releases we’ve carried each year of our existence. One that always runs out quick and causes our inboxes to swell up with requests for more.
If you haven’t heard of Epic’s Big Bad Baptist Whiskey Barrel-Aged Stout yet, you better listen up!
This beer has legendary appeal, holding strong at 4.21 on Untappd after over 89,000 ratings and 4.36 on BeerAdvocate from 3,900 ratings. Quick! Name some other beers with this kind of universal acclaim! We bet you can’t.
Big Bad Baptist pours a deep, mesmerizing obsidian hue that plays jedi-mind tricks on the palate with a deceptively easy-drinking body. Its bold flavors build into an Irish coffee-induced mania marked by the woody character of the barrel. Epic Brewing embeds a mighty 11.1% ABV into toasted grains and the sweet spice of vanilla-caramel whiskey; but the generous dose of rich coffee is what pulls Stout lovers back for more.
This dark brew is responsible for hooking so many fans on craft. Take @Vidblain on BA who says, “Big Bad Baptist was one of the first beers that made me go, ‘Wow. Okay, I'm into this. I think this hobby is about to take over my life.” Many Tavour members have shared similar stories: this beer’s been an introduction, a first love, and the one we all keep refilling our glasses with each winter.
