A Note on This Beer

When I spent a month in San Diego a few years back, the best day of the week wasn’t Friday, or even Saturday — it was Taco Tuesday! On Tuesdays, my friends and I went straight from work to one of the local watering holes for gourmet tacos and half-price margaritas.

Today’s Bistro Grande: Strawberry & Lime Alfresco brings back memories of those sunny SoCal days. After one taste, I’m ready to break out the tortilla press and fire up the grill! Each succulent sip is like drinking a made-from-scratch margarita with freshly squeezed lime juice.

This deliciously tart and refreshing Sour comes from the husband and wife team at Energy City Brewing. Even though they’ve only been open for three years, they’re getting RAVE reviews for their Bistro Series of fruited sours.

The lime overpowers the strawberry in a way that its a little too much for my taste but the drink is well made and I did enjoy it.

Pleasant and strong fresh strawberry comes through with a puckering lime at the end, keeps you coming back for another sip! Great for poolside days!

Almost a smoothie type texture, weight and flavor profile. A great amount of tartness, and powerful well balanced strawberry and lime. The nose gave a little hint of cinnamon, which was a fun twist. Great beer!

The strawberry is the is the predominant flavor with the lime coming on more in the aftertastes. Not overly sweet, not overly sour. I feel like they walk the line of not being to much of anything other than flavorful! Highly recommend. It can be tough getting a sour beer right but this hits the sweet spot! Pun intended! The only thing I’m disappointed with is that I only grabbed two.
