About This Beer
After 35 years Deschutes is nothing short of iconic. And to commemorate three and a half decades of craft excellence, the brewers are celebrating with Black Butte XXXV.
The crew crafted this limited edition Imperial version of their renowned Porter with cocoa, tart cherries, vanilla, and a hint of bourbon, mirroring the flavors of a Black Forest cake.
Tasting Notes
Open it up and complex aromas of cherry truffles, oaky vanilla, and whiskey waft out of the bottle. The first sip will be filled with jammy stone fruit brightness and roasty mocha tones. More nuances bloom as the brew warms — artisanal chocolate and hints of molasses giving way to a whiff of pipe tobacco. And it all culminates in a caramel finale with a dash of warming booziness.

I’m partial to a good Porter even if not as complex as a stout, it also arrived from Tavour leaking slightly from the top, so I had to drink it pronto! So terrible! very good though!

Great chocolate and cherry flavor. Cherry was not too overpowering, which was a good thing. Authentic taste and not too sweet. Didn't get much of the trace of bourbon.

low balling this one. the porter base is very good. hints of bourbon. but I’m totally missing the Cherry and cocoa.

Cherries and cocoa; nearly Black Forest cake-like. Not as rich or complex though.

amped up in every way. while I love a classic porter this shows the style CAN take this type of treatment while still maintaining its roots.

Beautiful cherry and dark chocolate. The booziness was hidden well

Drinkable but kind of meh overall. I was dreading the cherries, but they were balanced quite well, so they deserve some love for that.
