A Note on This Beer
My grandpa immigrated from southern Germany, so he doesn’t mess around when it comes to decadent desserts. Every year for his birthday, he requests a slice of Black Forest Cherry Cake.
Or, as he calls it in his thick Bavarian accent, “Schwarzwälder Kirschetorte.”
Knowing his love for all things chocolate and cherry, I can’t wait to introduce him to today’s Black Forest Cake Stout! This mouthwatering collab comes from the pastry chefs at Untitled Art and Hubbard’s Cave — two breweries who take dessert just as seriously as Grandpa.
To bake (*ahem,* brew) this decadent concoction, the brewers used a blend of juicy cherry purée, bittersweet cacao nibs, velvety vanilla, and creamy lactose. On the nose, it’s an intoxicating bouquet of rich, fudgey brownie batter. Flavors of fluffy chocolate sponge cake, luscious whipped cream, and the pop of sweet-tart cherries erupt from every sip.
And, with its birthday party-worthy 9.5% ABV, this Imperial Stout is sure to have even octogenarians like Grandpa leaping to the dance floor!
I’m itching to see the look on his face when he gets a taste! The question is, how do you say “cake beer” in German?
