A Note on This Beer

Today’s Black Metal Altbier reminds me of the metal band Nargorath — sure, they make some of the heaviest, most brutal sounds on planet earth, but they’re actually just a lovely group of German dudes who like their music a little more on the brooding side!

So, cheers to them, and cheers to Adroit Theory’s crisp, light brew for the fans who want something refreshing, but still nice and dark!

See, the Altbier is one of the oldest styles in Germany’s storied history of beer making. It uses a special, top-fermenting yeast that cuts through the beer's malty sweetness, resulting in crisp, clean drinkability. The brewers allow the beer to ferment and mature in a cooler atmosphere.

The result is a brew that’s almost like a Lager, but with an extra kick of malty flavor!

Adroit Theory’s version is true-to-form, with a dark, amber hue, ester notes of red stone fruit, and plenty of honey-drizzled bread flavors. It’s ideal for sipping in a circle of friends while listening to your favorite Black Metal band.

Throw up the horns and be one of the first ones to the mosh pit with this newly released Altbier!

crisp and clean on the mouthfeel. smells like an old ale mixed with a crispy lager and altbier.. taste is incredible. malt forward with some honey notes and almost a leather and tobacco aspect to it like north coasts old stock, and it almost has a slight smoke to it. very well done adroit theory has yet yo disappoint me.

This is unlike any beer I've had before. It has a bitterness that doesn't quite taste like hops. It's super dry and smokey. Love it and I'll be buying more if it ever pops up again!

Dark beer without the deep dark flavor, just a nice malty biscuity flavor. Good beer to relax and sip

Big into this calm malty boi. Bit of caramel. Watery in a good way, thinner, slight fruitiness. Some kinda darker fruit. Bit roasty. Unique and interesting.

Somewhere between an ale and a lager… excellent flavor and body, enough happiness for a slightly bitter finish. So drinkable!

Lots of roasty toasty malty notes on this one. There’s an underlying sweetness as well. Listening to Mayhem while sipping on this lad

I can tell this is an excellent version of this old style of beer, but it comes off far less flavorful then I’d hoped

a good mix between an ale and a lager. I'm not much of a lager fan but this was tasty

A well rounded beer. Very close to an Amber Ale but not as malty. Easy to drink.

Agree with others, malty lager meets ale. Well balanced with terrific bitter linger. Kinda like if a double bock and lager had a baby.
