A Note on This Beer
Today’s Blackberry Meerts is exciting for three reasons:
1. It’s one of the very first beers we’ve ever had on Tavour from Funk Factory Geuzeria! This Wisconsin blendery focuses entirely on Sour styles and traditional Belgian blending techniques!
2. It’s a Meerts beer, and if you’ve never heard of it, that’s because Funk Factory’s among only a small handful of specialty blenderies in the world that actually craft this naturally-fermented, Lambic-like style.
3. It brims with smooth wood and refreshingly tart fruit notes from fermentation in French Oak foeders followed by two months refermentation on blackberries. Mmm!
Actually, better add a fourth exciting reason — we only have 130 bottles to go around!

Nice fruity aroma. The flavors of blackberry are not as apparent as I would like as the acidity overshadows those flavors. The acidity is nice, but detracts from the essence of the blackberries that would work much better with some of the berry pulp and more sweetness.

A little more subtle compared to the peach Meerts, in terms of tart. 🍻
