A Note on This Beer
Jester King is world renowned for their ability to bring craft beer creativity to life. In fact, they are one of the original breweries to introduce the Farmhouse style to America.
Today’s Farmhouse Ale Co-Fermented With Blanc Du Bois & Gewurztraminer is a fancy name for the brewery doing what they do best: craft beer innovation.
The brew blurs the lines between wine and beer by simultaneously fermenting grapes and grain!
To craft it, Jester King took whole cluster Blanc du Bois grapes from the Texas Hill Country, “foot-stomped” them to combine the microbes on the grape skins with the juice, then allowed fermentation with native yeast to begin.
Then they added well water, local grain, and a blend of fresh and aged hops to ferment naturally with the yeast from the grapes.
Shortly thereafter, they added Gewurztraminer wine from Willamette Valley, Oregon.
The result: a beautifully funked-out, kombucha-like Wild Ale with delicately tart notes of pineapple, white grape, lychee, and grapefruit.
It even comes in a clear bottle to show off the crave-worthy color inside. It lets in light, which is a no-no for most beer, but in a Wild Farmhouse Ale like this one, it just amps up the tasty funk!
