A Note on This Beer

When the Texas tastemakers at Martin House Brewing released their Blood Orange Imperial Salty Lady last year, it was insane how fast it disappeared. Fans were all over it like bottomless mimosas at brunch time!

Those Texans’ thirst could not be satisfied, like @badbadcat who admits “this is by far my favorite beer you guys have brewed. Last year I bought 3 cases!”

Crafted with real blood orange purée and bolstered by a surprisingly brawny 9.2% ABV, it’s easy to see why Salty Lady is so popular.

Drink some down, and a fruity sweetness mingles with tingly tartness and a dash of salt. All the while, refreshing waves of tangy citrus juice mask the huge ABV in a rich mouthfeel.

It’s like one of those fancy blood orange mimosas you see on every table during brunch at the cocktail lounge: juicy, thirst-quenching, and salaciously tasty. But if you’re not careful, this is one blood orange mimosa that’ll have you pushing Zz’s before the clock strikes noon!

Let’s be honest though, an afternoon nap isn’t so bad. Just make sure you get yourself enough cans while we have them! Once the last drop disappears, the orangey allure of this Imperial Salty Lady will only be found in your naptime dreams.

I’m down with MH experiments! This one was good but not great. The tart blood orange and salt are little too powerful my palette

I love Martin House beer. The original Salty Lady was good. And this Blood Orange is as good as I anticipated. Got that salty taste with the orange finish. As a Texan that lives in Seattle I've missed this brewery very much. This is not for ppl who don't like strong salty and tart beers.

Interesting saltiness. First sip is surprising but compliments pretty well with sour

I’m not sure I’m the biggest gose or sour fan. This one sounded interesting so I went for it. I definitely like it better than the other sours I’ve had. The saltiness is actually pretty refreshing. I do like salt. Paired it with a burrito.

It's rough, though and unpleasant. Really feels like the point of this is missed. I see the other reviews and people rated it highly but nothing that explains what about this is good for a gose. That's the problem. Trying out these different types and rub across something like this and it rubs ya wrong. Probably wouldn't be so hard to drink if I knew why others enjoyed it so much.

I have not historically been a fan of goses or other sours, but I’m trying to expand my horizons. The sour on this is not totally overwhelming (a good thing, from my perspective), and the orange and touch of salt really help balance it. I could go for more sour beers in this vein!

I was a huge fan of the original Salty Lady when I lived in TX. This is a more citrusy and boozy version of it. Not quite as sessionable but still tasty.
