A Note on This Beer

To this day, I can’t taste a Blue Hawaiian cocktail without picturing the crystal blue waters and sandy beaches of Lahaina, where I spent my honeymoon. That magical week was filled with waterfall hikes, all-you-can-eat luaus, and yes — LOTS of Blue Hawaiians.

So, when Wild Barrel released their Sour Ale version of this refreshing cocktail, I couldn’t wait to dive headfirst into its delectable depths!

The brewers crafted their flirty Blue Hawaiian with oranges, pineapples, and non-alcoholic Blue Curacao for a deliciously authentic taste! And, it pours an intriguing shade of teal green — just like its rum-filled namesake.

Also like its cocktail counterpart, it’s not a drink to be taken lightly — it weighs in at a party-worthy 9% ABV!

Didn't like the first few sips but by the end I was really enjoying it. Good pineapple finish in the mouth, the cools pretty cool. No head when poured, seems more like a alcoholic soda

My rating is based on the listed description and attributes of the beer. It’s a fun summer beer but doesn’t really live up to its description as a “pastry” sour. The term “pastry” when used to describe a beer implies an element of sweetness but this was really a traditional sour beer. The advertised flavors of orange and pineapple were indistinguishable in the beer. Having said the above, if you’re looking for an unconventional summer beach or pool beer that resembles a resort cocktail, you’ll probably find this beer interesting.

16oz can from Tavour. Green / teal colored pour with a bubbly head. Tart aroma, pineapple. Pineapple follows through to the taste, a little bit of orange peel at the finish. Not overly tart, great summertime refresher
