A Note on This Beer

Every time my mom makes her famous cinnamon-soaked blueberry crumble, my family goes into full predator-mode.

What can I say? Whoever gets the first scoop gets the BEST scoop (aka, the most-crumbly corner piece).

Lucky for me, I don’t need to race my immediate family for a can of Lil Beaver’s opulent Blueberry Crumble Wheat Ale. Just all you crumble-lovin’ craft fans!

Which, actually, won’t be an easy task. The brewers pack each batch full of irresistibly fresh blueberries atop silky vanilla and cinnamon. It tastes just like my mom’s berry delicacy, smothered in a cloud of whipped cream softer than a puppy's ears!

And, there’s a good chance this is your first chance to try a sip of this juice without heading to central Illinois. Because founder, head brewer, and National Homebrew Competition medalist Chad Bevers just opened his taproom in 2018.

The lil brewery is already making a big splash in the local scene thanks to nostalgically delicious brews like Blueberry Crumble. The Illinois newspaper The Herald & Review even called them out as one of the best in the state!

Surprisingly good. Just as described. You can really taste the blueberries and cinnamon. Maybe a little more vanilla and a little less cinnamon would make it better.

This was pretty good. Up front it has an odd and misleading taste/ mouth feel. But you really get allot of blueberry and vanilla to end it out. The aftertaste is completely what you would imagine a blueberry crumble ale would taste. I wanted to give five stars. But had to deduct one for the odd mouth feel.

Great taste in the front with sips of the blueberry tartness followed by the crumble after taste! Big slow drinks you can taste all flavors. But something was missing? Ah yes maybe a scoop of French vanilla ice cream would make it perfect. This may make the perfect shake.

Very blueberry with good vanilla flavor. The only reason it didn’t get a full five stars from me is it is a bit dry for my liking and a touch sour. Still an amazing beer.

Just a mere .25 points from being perfect. Lacked a teeniest bit of sweetness, but quite extraordinary overall. The sour blueberry front end was delicious, but the finish of the cinnamon and vanilla crust was the highlight for me.

Truthfully my favorite beer from the crate. Not something I would drink all night, but it was absolutely PERFECT as a dessert beer. I wish I would have ordered more.
