A Note on This Beer
If it were any other year, Munich, Germany would be bustling right now with preparations for Oktoberfest. But next month, there will be no lederhosen and dirndl-clad crowds; no cheery oompah music booming from tents; no tables of amber-hued brews.
For the first time since World War II, the largest beer celebration on the planet is canceled.
That doesn’t mean you need to put away your stein just yet — today’s Bobtoberfest delivers rich malt flavors wrapped in easygoing 5.6% ABV cheer!
The brew comes from the German-style specialists at Oregon’s Heater Allen, and it’s their take on a high-gravity Märzen. Every sip dances with dark fruit and biscuit notes, backed with hints of clove. A flourish of hop bitterness on the finish makes it all too easy to dive right back in for more.
And, while Bobtoberfest may not actually come from hill-covered Bavaria, it is as crisp and clean as the Pacific Northwest air it was brewed in.
But, Heater Allen only crafts it once a year.
Time to stock up the beer fridge and find the oompah music on YouTube — Oktoberfest 2020 is happening at home this year! Prost!
