A Note on This Beer
Fremont Brewing gets a lot of love for their hoppier beers, and for having one of the most extensive barrel-aging programs in Washington state. But it’s not just their Fresh Hop beers or Bourbon Barrel-aged offerings that amp up local anticipation.
Fremont’s Bonfire Ale is the brewery’s unique smokey take on the open-ended Winter Ale style.
A massive malt bill of 2-Row, White Wheat, Midnight Wheat, Rye, Peat-Smoke Barley and Chocolate malts hefts Bonfire to the top of winter seasonal releases. With a distinct char and hint of smoke, Fremont has crafted Bonfire to be enjoyed on an early-winter’s crisp, cloudless night.
Pouring a rich mahogany brown, the aroma crackles of sweet caramel and rye spice, a wafting of peat smoke, and cocoa. The smoked malts play off the rye and midnight wheat to deliver a deep roasted flavor, layered on top of a caramelized sweetness. Cascade and US Goldings Hops add a spicy earthiness, for an ultimately clean finish.
Each year Fremont celebrates Bonfire’s highly anticipated arrival with a release party, where the local craft beer community comes together to welcome this beer’s release. Gather your friends together for your own celebration as you welcome this release into your seasonal rotation.
