A Note on This Beer
We’re not advocating a life of crime, but once you drink Crazy Mountain Brewing’s Bourbon Barrel Aged Lawyers Guns & Money Barleywine you’ll think you’re Al Capone or Tony Montana enjoying the finer things in life -- minus the murder, lawbreaking, and being a jerk in general. After all, Barleywines are always intense, but Crazy Mountain’s barreled version goes beyond that -- it goes deliciously psycho.
Just arrived from their Local’s Stash Reserve series, Lawyers Guns & Money (or LGM for short) feels like it’s crafted for a kingpin -- it tastes so luxurious, it makes you want to stage a heist to steal the whole stash, because only 1,200 bottles exist.
LGM is aged up to 12 months in bourbon barrels with one of the brewery’s booziest brews, a Barleywine that blends silky, caramelized Belgian Candi sugar notes with citrusy, herbal hops. A year in the barrels soaks up whiskey’s warm vanilla and clove notes, making it a smorgasbord of complexity: Aromas of effervescent dill and lemony yuzu citrus (think Aquavit) rise up into the nose. A brief tang of whiskey sour hits the tongue, transforming into hints of coriander, caramel, and a soothing spike of fresh booze.
In short-- it tastes like something Walter White had custom-made.
