A Note on This Beer
Some of the best craft beer gets are the ones other people are after. There’s a rush that comes from knowing you have something in your cellar that’s in-demand — especially when it’s a bold beast encased in a 750ml bottle. You can snap a glossy pic and show it off to your friends on the East Coast who have zero chance of getting it. That's the story of today's beer.
Elevation Brewing calls it their white whale: Bourbon Barrel Aged Oil Man Imperial Stout. The Colorado following for this limited release is getting so strong that the brewery is releasing small batch flavor variants for its very own line of Oil Man beers, a la Stone’s Xocoveza Series.
But beware, this 10.8% ABV beer is strong enough to fire-up the belly from the inside out and it comes equipped with a savvy motor oil thickness sure to meet even this snobbiest Stout fan’s standards.
To create it, Elevation collaborated with their friends at Breckenridge Distilling, custom tuning their recipe to get maximum power out of 6 months in their acclaimed Bourbon Barrels for a smooth, luxurious drinking experience.
All this careful planning brings out a bouquet of char and vanilla aromas from a rich jet-black pour. But what do fans really love about this beer? It has a chewy mouthfeel, with flavors of dark chocolate, spiced-oak vanilla, and charred wood heavy on the palate. A touch of sweetness in the finish barely cuts through this Stout’s roasted coffee tones. It combines super smoothness with sneaky booze — a match made in heaven.
Bring this brewery acclaimed white whale into your cellar and watch your friends drool.
