A Note on This Beer

Every Black Friday, Mariah Carey makes one billion dollars USD.

You know why, I know why, we all know why. ‘Tis the season. But while crazed shoppers storm Walmart as the stylings of Ms. Carey play in the background, I’m sitting here chilling. I have a stash of BeerAdvocate’s top-scoring Winter Warmer in my beer fridge that needs drinkin’!

The Texans at Rahr & Sons delicately craft this complex sipper just for these colder months, letting the English Dark Ale base sit in 100% American Bourbon Barrels for up to a full year!

Basically, as soon as Mariah Carey fades out in radios across the country, Rahr & Sons gets to work on next Christmas’ special release. Ya know, like Santa!

Right on the pour, seasonal cinnamon and clove aromas fill the room. That aroma leads into oaky, smooth flavors of bourbon and malt. Touches of brown sugar hit the back of the tongue, but the finish is satisfyingly mellow, unlike a big bodied Stout.

Chances are, we’re all gonna listen to “that song” a few times this season. Might as well have a great beer by our side while it’s playing!

Rahr & Sons holds more than 60 festival awards from GABF, the U.S. Open Beer Championship, the Los Angeles International Beer Competition, the World Beer Cup, and the Denver International Beer Competition!

Tavour strictly supports independent beer. Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. is certified independent by the Brewers Association

Poured dark brown vs photo. Intense raw booze under notes. I’d stop at 1.

Prost y’all! Would def get again. Wish I had more. Not too roast but def toasty. Not astringent or hot, but the booze and barrel flavors come through without any of the negatives. Clean esters.

Yep just like it says. Good strong ale with some aging, not great but pretty good and is certain to warm you up.

Dangerously drinkable with nothing that reveals the 11% ABV. Chocolate malt barrel vanilla decadence in a glass. So smooth and silky that if you put this on nitro, my mouth might refuse anything else.

Quite the kick, strong with some oak and vanilla notes to the inhale, not for the weak

Nicely balanced seasonal dark ale. Subtle barrel and spice in a big malty winter warmer. Hope to make this a new holiday tradition.

This is a special select craft is aged in American oak bourbon barrels for one year and sits at 9% with an English dark ale for its base. All that adds up to cinnamon and clove aromatics, oaky bourbon and malt notes, with an amazingly mellow finish! Rahr, of Wisconsin beer legacy, continues to impress! 🍻😁👍👍 ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫
