About This Beer
"Hygge” is a Danish word that describes warm comfort, kinship, and contentment. It’s the glow of candlelight on a cold winter’s night; the smell of fresh baked sugar cookies; the sound of presents being unwrapped under the tree.
The crew at Rahr & Sons have expertly encapsulated “hygge” with their Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter Warmer, and craft fans LOVE it
Tasting Notes
Toasty aromas of toffee, molasses, and fresh-brewed coffee waft from the thick-bodied pour. The sip follows, with a smooth bloom of bourbon and oaky vanilla coming through, thanks to aging in just-emptied bourbon barrels.

Prost y’all! Would def get again. Wish I had more. Not too roast but def toasty. Not astringent or hot, but the booze and barrel flavors come through without any of the negatives. Clean esters.

Yep just like it says. Good strong ale with some aging, not great but pretty good and is certain to warm you up.

Dangerously drinkable with nothing that reveals the 11% ABV. Chocolate malt barrel vanilla decadence in a glass. So smooth and silky that if you put this on nitro, my mouth might refuse anything else.

Quite the kick, strong with some oak and vanilla notes to the inhale, not for the weak

Nicely balanced seasonal dark ale. Subtle barrel and spice in a big malty winter warmer. Hope to make this a new holiday tradition.

This is a special select craft is aged in American oak bourbon barrels for one year and sits at 9% with an English dark ale for its base. All that adds up to cinnamon and clove aromatics, oaky bourbon and malt notes, with an amazingly mellow finish! Rahr, of Wisconsin beer legacy, continues to impress!

This little winter slugger is delightful! Figgy, raisiny English toffee pudding with tons of bourbon. Well hidden alcohol. Dangerously drinkable and delicious!

Nearly opaque dark brown pour. Frothy tan head. Earthy, oaky roasted malt aroma hints at burnt sugar and dark currants. Rich, roasty malt flavor upfront. Complex notes of brandy soaked raisins, oak , bourbon, vanilla and treacle. Warming alcohol in middle. Wonderfully complex and flavorful. Sticky mouthfeel. Outstanding.

Nice toffee and smoky notes. Bourbon-barrel aging blends in well.

Distinct aroma of English Fuggle hops liberally soaked in bourbon, leading into warming flavor notes of vanilla, wood, and a blend of winter spicing (clove, anise, and a touch of smoke). Lucious, dark, and guaranteed to fill you with holiday cheer.
