Baltic Porters like Bourbon Barrel Baltic Sunrise are notoriously challenging to craft. 

See, the style is actually more akin to a Lager than a regular English or American-style Porter. The use of clean, crisp Lager yeast makes for a very sippable body even with a high level of booziness. But, it also means little flaws shine right through — unless it’s in the hands of masters like the World Beer Cup medalists at Hardywood Park.

Which means, now would be a great time to claim a bottle or two of today’s exceptional example!

For this 11.7% ABV rendition, the Hardywood Park team deftly coaxed out rich, robust mocha flavors from chocolate malts and coffee bean additions. Then, they sealed in notes of toasted oak, vanilla and dark cherry by aging the brew in bourbon barrels. 

To really enjoy all of its tasty nuances, we recommend pouring BA Baltic Sunrise into a glass and letting it open up a bit before sipping. Of course, that’s only if you manage to grab a bottle while we’ve got it outside of Virginia.
