About This Beer
The original recipe consists of loads of chocolate malt, cacao nibs, and locally sourced raspberries. But the craft masters at Hardywood decided to kick things up another notch by adding vanilla beans and aging this GABF gold-medal-winning brew in bourbon barrels.
Tasting Notes
Decadent chocolate notes swirl alongside sweet and tangy raspberry for a sip that wouldn’t be out of place on a 5-star dessert cart. A subtle taste of bourbon and woodspice on the backend excellently accentuate these sweet flavors, and totally mask the boozy 11.5% ABV

absolutely horrible. worse than cough syrup

Raspberry is front and center but it is a bit medicinal. Barrel is barely there.

Hints of chocolate and raspberry with a bit of tartness. Solid beer not much bourbon taste.

raspberry taste was really good! Didn’t taste much of the vanilla beans though

Barely get any bourbon or vanilla. Raspberry is very sweet.

Far under what I had hoped for. Drank, but did not enjoy.

sweet more raspberry and less vanilla

is this wanting to be a sour, or a stout? not much from a barrel either. I think this beer doesn’t know what it wants to be and that’s where the flaw is.

upfront raspberry, smooth chocolate finish... still not the best combo

well done,perfect balance of flavors

For me, this was a bit thin with unbalanced flavors. Barrel and stout notes take a backseat to the raspberry. Vanilla is MIA.

A misfire. Taste of tobacco with an acrid aftertaste. Raspberry and chocolate come through only in the aroma

decent for a stout.

Raspberries definitely add a tiny touch of tartness. Not overly thick stout. Pretty tasty.

kind of a watery raspberry taste. very thin, no barrel. I loved the last batch, not sure what happened here. bummer :(

I usually don’t drink beer above 30 IBUs because I have a low bitterness tolerance. Never would have guessed it had 50. Smooth, good and luckily have a 2nd one

Raspberry and chocolate are sweet and up front and center. Straight dark raspberry tootsie pop vibes. Bourbon is minimal. Not pastry sweet, but still the sweetness is a bit too powerful

if you take out the bourbon part, this beer is as advertised. raspberry flavor comes first followed by a truffle flavor. actually really well done, not overpowering, no bitter aftertaste. literally the liquid form of a raspberry truffle.

Dark chocolate and raspberry! Tastes like a Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Raspberry candy square! love it!
