A Note on This Beer
The Plague! The Plague!
No, I’m not talking about some new virus causing the sniffles this season — the 4.23 Untappd-rated Cascade Bourbonic Plague 2017 is back! Well, at least a tiny stash of it is.
Which is good news for the first 360 of you bourbon-spiked dark beer fans to snag a bottle.
See there’s a sickness called fear of missing out — a.k.a. FOMO — that’s hitting beer geeks pretty hard this fall. As the weather gets colder, the hunt for the darkest, booziest, most-spiced and fruitiest brews gets more and more intense.
But today we’ve made it easy by offering you a shot at a Bourbon Barrel-Aged AND Red Wine Barrel-Aged Tart Imperial Porter crafted with chewy dates and warm autumn spices. It’s incredibly smooth after cellaring at Cascade for over 2 years. That was just enough time to draw out all of the oaky vanilla caramel from the Bourbon Barrels, infusing it with tart cherry notes from the Wine Barrels, and simultaneously mellowing the mountainous 11.1% ABV to a silkiness that drinks like something half its strength.
Anyone that’s been into barrel-aged beer for more than a few months knows today’s super small stash won’t last long. Cascade has a reputation synonymous with oak-aging excellence, and for everyone that doesn’t know them by name, they’ve got a treasure trove of awards behind it.
Will you be one of today’s fortunate 360? Yeah, that is one less than we had a minute ago! Looks like some lucky schmuck nabbed one before I could even finish telling you about it.
