A Note on This Beer
Globe-trotting Ingredients: Additions of real lychee, guava, and black tea burst against a background of honeyed melon and citrus rind from a double dry-hopping with Citra and Cashmere Hops. Tropical Taste: Tangy lychee and guava sweetness makes for a juicy tropical fruit smoothie, while black tea adds delicate floral notes to the finish. Silky Mouthfeel: The soft haze masterfully cloaks the 5.9% ABV.
It’s no secret that IPAs are all the rage right now. Brewers are coming up with some seriously out-there sub-categories, like the milkshake IPA, smoothie IPA, and now, even a bubble tea IPA!
For anyone not familiar with the Taiwanese treat, bubble tea (a.k.a. boba tea) is a smoothie-like, sweet milk tea with chewy tapioca balls for extra texture.
And today’s Captain Bubbles IPA takes the irresistibly sweet, crave-worthy flavors of this trendy drink and makes it into an easy-sipping Hazy. It’s a style combination we have never seen here at Tavour, and after one sip I'm hooked!
To make this creamy delight, the flavor pioneers at Thrillist’s Best Brewery in New York, King County Brewers Collective, teamed up with the newcomers at Connecticut's Tribus Brewing. Although only one year old, Tribus just swept the show at GABF with a prestigious Gold Medal in the “Juicy or Hazy Pale Ale” category.
Bring a few cans to your next holiday party or Friendsgiving feast, and it will be all anyone can talk about. Forget the basic pumpkin pie or latest family gossip — everyone will be wondering how the hell the brewers managed to load a beer with fruity, floral, and creamy flavors!
So grab a couple of straws, and get ready to burst all your traditional IPA-lovin’ buddies’ bubbles. There's a new style in town, and you've got a chance to get a taste before it really blows up.
