When I walked into Odd13’s cozy Lafayette, CO, taproom last week, the brewer greeted me with my favorite question: “Hey, want a beer?” I was expecting one of the juicy hazies that’ve made them hophead favorites; instead, they poured me the most fluorescent pink brew I’ve ever seen: today’s Chainsaw Princess of Karate Sour Smoothie IPA.

That ridiculously loud, neon pink pour brought a smile to my face before I even took a sip. It may look otherworldly; but that color’s all-natural, brought to you by Pink Dragonfruit Puree and Lactose. Looking around the taproom, I could easily point out everyone else lapping it up, both from their glowing pints and their ear-to-ear grins!

My smile grew when I sipped the straight-up Sour tropical fruit tornado tearing through fields of Citra Hops -- a frenzy of bitter grapefruit and lemons -- that mellowed into well-rounded vanilla notes and a smooth mouthfeel. What a trip … Now I know why the brewers called this their go-to sipper!

Odd13 is known for their bold brews with big personalities, appearing on lists like Paste Mag’s Top 16 Best Breweries in the US. And with brews like this, they’ll keep makin’ waves.
