A Note on This Beer
Hoppily Married: A citrusy-dank union of Citra, Centennial, Simcoe, and Warrior Hops.
Forever Flavorful: Every juicy sip promises resinous hop bitterness and robust flavors of pink grapefruit, fresh pineapple, and sweet nectarines, balanced against a smooth, malt backbone.
Charlatan is the heavily hopped, 2-time GABF medal-winning American Pale Ale that ignited a craft beer love affair for PorchDrinking writer Dave Drury. He got a taste of those dank, citrusy swirls and said, “If it were legal to marry a beer… I would marry this one.”
He’s not the only one to feel the love — others describe it as “super flavorful, with a classic West Coast-style profile that is as approachable as [it] gets.” And, “Excellent example of the style. Very well done!”
This is a crusher with a hop complexity I wouldn’t normally expect in a Pale Ale. But that’s Charlatan, always full of juicy surprises.
It even surprised Chicago craft fans when it first stepped on the scene. It became the beer that put Maplewood Brewery on the map as a hotspot for hoppy brews!
It’s the kind of beer I could spend a full day with, take home, and spend the night curled up with on the couch while I binge my latest Netflix obsession. Really, just a sip is all it takes to fall in love with this Charlatan.
