A Note on This Beer

Chocoholics know three things to be true:

One: The more chocolatey, the better.

Two: A few creamy sips of a chocolate-rich Imperial Stout can be even more luscious than a bar of Hershey’s.

Three: It doesn’t get much more luscious or chocolatey than Hubbard’s Cave’s Pot de Creme Imperial Stout!

That’s why I went to the fridge and promptly cleared out an entire shelf the moment I saw the brewery dropped a fresh new release of Chocolate Pot de Creme. With huge additions of chocolate, vanilla, and lactose on a base of dark, chocolatey malts, this edition is like melted Godiva wrapped in boozy silk!

And it IS boozy. The 12% ABV creates a nice warmth that rises up and wraps your senses in a fudgy hug.

More like melted soup in a can, not sure if it’s because my order came in late or what but I’m not impressed with the first beer out of my order, bummed I bought two. It was like the worst chocolate milk I’ve ever tasted.

Upfront I did not taste any of the chocolate inside this one. Probably masked by the large amount of booze. However the after taste was extremely chocolatey and you can taste the creamy vanilla underneath the chocolate in the after taste. Super dark and rich but overall not the best chocolate stout around but definitely worthy taste!

Harsh bitter taste. Smooth mouth feel though. Not a fan overall. No chocolate flavor or notes of vanilla, and burns like hard alcohol. Wouldn’t recommend. It tastes like a basic dark beer.
