About This Beer
Hubbard’s Cave crafted this Imperial Stout with chocolate, raspberries and lactose
Tasting Notes
Each sip is a dream come true for chocoholics, with fudgy cocoa notes wrapping around sweet and tangy bramble fruit nuances. Roasty malts ripple underneath, lending lip-smacking mocha tones to the velvety finish. Meanwhile, ribbons of caramel and vanilla and keep the 13% ABV nice and hidden.

This was FANTASTIC. I was mad after I’d finished drinking it, realizing I’d only ordered one can.

Dessert beer 100%. This is super sweet. Pour this bad boy over ice cream and you would have the best beer float the world has ever known.

Chocolate not at all subtle!

Delicious. Love the flavor of the chocolate mixing with the cream. The 12% ABV was a great accompaniment to the flavor. Would definitely recommend and will order again

Very well done. My favorite style.

Took a sip or two to truly enjoy because boy does this have flavor. Once my taste buds adjusted, this was a fantastic drink, chocolatey and smooth. Not only that but it gets the job done at 12% ABV

Smooth, sweet and chocolately.

Super chocolate and creamy

Thick, dark, chocolaty and boozy. This was a very satisfying stout.

I have to say I think this was astounding, the alcohol that was amplified in this beer was phenomenal. It had the sweetness of the chocolate, the boldness of the alcohol. Plus it was smooth and silky as well.

Chocolatey and rich. Maybe it's my imagination but it seemed to pour like motor oil. There's so much to like here!

Thick, dark, not exactly what I was expecting

Good chocolate flavor but not up to the taste of other Hubbards Cave beers

Bittersweet chocolate in beer form.

The chocolate flavor is amazing!

Typically, I don’t like to have more than one imperial stout in a sitting because they are so rich and heavy. But I think I could make an exception for this. The lactose rounds off the chocolate flavor and adds a nice creaminess. Based off another review I also recommend letting it sit in your mouth for a few seconds because it really highlights the flavors. Kind of tastes like a super rich chocolate milk. One of the best imperial stouts I’ve ever had would definitely recommend!

Intense chocolate, pours extremely thick, not much carbonation

Bitter at first. Vanilla bean and chocolate finish

Like liquid milk chocolate... Really delicious. Another winner from Hubbard's Cave!

One of my new favorite Pastry Stouts! So silky smooth and creamy. All the notes are balanced perfectly, especially when drunk at a Cold Temperature.

This was yummy! Usually malt heavy browns give me an instant headache. But not this. It was silky and smooth. I haven't tasted a brown that bests Belching Beavers PB Stout, but this was still a delightful sipper.

Overwhelmingly sweet. Good beer, just not for me.

Not a big dark beer drinker but this was great!

Did not care for at all. Too thick, too sweet, too gross.

Smooth. creamy. chocolate.

No. I was seriously looking forward to this one too. The Hubbards Raspberry French Toast was bomb! This one, I don’t taste the chocolate at all. Don’t smell it either. It’s got a creamy feel to it, nice dark rich color, but the taste is a little bitter, not that sweet for a dessert beer. I won’t be ordering again on this one.

Love sharing these with the homies. Dessert cake to me.

Too sweet too creamy to much of everything

I’d like to know how they got a head on that beer in the photo... otherwise amazing flavor and one of the best chocolate stouts I’ve had. You KNOW it’s a chocolate stout as you drink it. VERY THICK full body and nice scent.

I’m disappointed in this one. This was the first beer I had ordered on my account. After reading the description I was sold. The taste to me is pretty chemical tasting. There is a bitter dark chocolate/ cocoa aftertaste, but overall this one is just not for me.

I felt the booziness overpowered the flavors a bit.

Strong sweet chocolate, stout taste! Loved it! Definitely ordering more from them!

Way too sweet. Couldn’t finish it.

Great chocolate flavor, pairs great with dessert.

Chocolate. Beautiful, smooth, chocolate. This stout goes down easy, too easy. Just brimming with coffee underneath chocolate.

I love Hubbards Cave. This one was not as good as their other stuff I’ve had but still pretty good.
4.5
WOOOOOW!! Sweet, chocolate, sticky, friggin' deliciousness!! This is an imperial pastry/dessert stout. Best when it comes up in temp, to bring out the sweet. Fantastic!!

Hershey’s chocolate syrup ... with mild boozy heat

Overall good, very syrupy almost like drinking a rich chocolate syrup.

I’m loving the desert beers. Some beer purists say beer should taste like beer. I disagree. What beer used to taste like is one of the many flavor styles of the root product. I love that there’s a beer for every season, mood, and meal. This is a solid stout with just enough chocolate to classify it as stout and not a desert beer. I would totally buy more of this.

It was okay. The first few sips were great, but then ended up not tasting like much.

Meh. It’s ok. Not sure if I’d buy again

Thick, sweet, and full of chocolate. Nice aroma. Mostly real chocolate taste, but after the whole can, felt it got a little overwhelming. Although ABV was high, didn't drink like it.
4.25
Creamy chocolate and caramel with a boozy finish.
