A Note on This Beer

Back in the day, I received a VERY specific prize in exchange for good grades — a trip to our neighborhood Mexican restaurant for my favorite dessert, freshly made Churros!

That’s right! Straight A’s meant an entire helping of deep-fried, flaky pastries dusted with spicy cinnamon and sweet granulated sugar, just for my own, adolescent indulgence.

So, when I heard 903 was releasing a brand-new, cinnamon-blasted adult version of my childhood favorite, Churro Milk Stout, I practically tripped sprinting out the door. I needed this chocolate-dipped delight in my beer fridge — quick!

The brewers began with their plush Milk Stout base, and aged it on heaps of cinnamon and real vanilla beans. The result sports all the nostalgic flavors flowing from the iconic dessert.

Layers of biscuity-goodness cascade across the palate alongside ripples of rich baker's chocolate. At the taste’s end, heaps of cinnamon spice and chocolate from the Stout base delight the tastebuds.

While hitting high marks in school is no longer a factor, a tough workday certainly warrants a glass or two of this silky sipper. It’s a true prize!

I think the name made me expect more. The cinnamon is noticeable on initial taste, but I’m not getting “churro” from this. It’s a decent stout, but not spectacular.

Churro is a hard flavor to nail down but this comes pretty darn close. Amount of cinnamon and chocolate are pretty well balanced. Other churro stouts struggle here with cinnamon drowning in chocolate. Alcohol is masked well.

Tastes a little bit bitter and a little bit smoky with hints of chocolate and cinnamon coming in at the end. Has a nice sweet cinnamon-sugar aftertaste.

Honestly not the strongest in flavors but by all means not a bad stout whatsoever. Essentially just could have had a stronger flavor profile

I didn’t really get any of the biscuit notes described, but that doesn’t bother me much. The vanilla is super strong but not to the point it’s unpleasant. Love the robust flavors.

Nice Bite! I taste more Milk and Vanilla then Churro. Not much sugary cinnamon either. Taste more like an unsweetened Churro. Overall a good “goodnight beer.”

Solid desert beer. You can’t tell it’s 11.7% until you stand up. There just isn’t that “this is a potent beer” taste so be careful. You could easily have 2 and then be stuck at your friends house for a few hours before you can drive home.

Rich, bittersweet roasty stout flavors, but restrained body. A little thin yet oily Chocolate, cinnamon and creamy bread notes pull through without overwhelming the beer Only gripe is that it's a little too sweet from the lactose
