A Note on This Beer
I was all about the G.I. Joe cartoon as a kid. But, one thing I never understood was why Cobra Commander was such a basket case.
The dude had tons of people working for him and a whole bunch of nifty gadgets — yet, he was always screaming and calling everyone “fools.” If anyone needed to grab a beer and chill, it was that guy.
But hey, it was the 80s then, and hop masters like Mikkeller didn’t exist yet.
Filling the brew with Citra Hops, Mikkeller blasts today’s The Citra Commander Imperial IPA full of delightful orange, tangerine, and grapefruit notes. It’s a citrusy medley that spills relaxing, fresh aromas upfront before it douses the tongue in bursting fruit bliss and subtle whispers of pine.
In fact, I bet just one sip of this surprisingly smooth, 8.3% ABV hopjuice would be enough to make ol’ Cobra Commander want to swap his face-shield for sunglasses and get mellow on a beach somewhere.
And, you know what? Every taste of this quencher makes me want to do the same. Sure, I may not have an army of minions to run or G.I. Joe constantly getting on my case, but everyday stresses are very real. This one’s worth loading up in the beer fridge.
*Mikkeller is easily one of the most recognized breweries across the globe. They snagged Danish Brewery of the Year their first year running. They hold world-class ratings on BeerAdvocate and have stacks of awards.
