A Note on This Beer
Take a ten minute drive west of Denver and you’ll arrive at USA Today’s #6 Best New Brewery in the country: New Image Brewing. If Colorado’s not on your itinerary, you can still taste these up-and-comers with their boozy, crazy flavor-infused Coconut Cacao Melanoidin Imperial Oatmeal Stout.
Is this some sort of 10.5% ABV bittersweet milkshake? Once you check out these ingredients, the answer is so much yes: Toasted coconuts, cacao nibs, creamy lactose and oatmeal, cold brew coffee, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Calling to mind the same boozy intensity as fellow Colorado Oskar Blues’ Ten Fidy, New Image goes a roast further with the additions of toasted coconut and silky cold brew coffee. Funny we mention Oskar Blues ‘cause the coffee used in this beer is from Hot Box...Oskar’s very own roastery! All these flavors unite in an upfront blast of chocolate and spice, pouring like motor oil, drinking smooth with the bitter cacao lasting throughout the experience.
Taking its name from the kind of caramelized malt that makes Stouts so rich, deep, and delicious, Melanoidin is a serious exploration of all things boozy and roasty. Cheers to the new kids on the block at New Image, making our choco-coconutty dreams come alive in this spiked fudgeshake of a brew.
