About This Beer
This is the granddaddy of Pastry Stouts, arguably the one that started them all. Annual vintages regularly sell out so quickly that Perennial even dubbed its release “Abraxas Day,” a brewery holiday that requires months of preparation. And even amongst the exalted Abraxas releases, Coffee Abraxas 2021 is the highest rated non-barrel-aged Abraxas to date!
Tasting Notes
Like an artisanal mocha, each sip comes replete with chocolate decadence. The dark, deep flavors swirl with light hints of spice, and finish with the lovely roasted notes from those premium coffee bean additions.

Subtle coffee that could stand to be a little more up front

Love the coffee addition

One of the best non BA stout I’ve ever had. Strong cold brew coffee with cinnamon on the nose. Taste is roasted coffee beans and cinnamon with some vanilla. The chili hits you on the finish. Nice viscosity. Goes down super smooth. Love it!

Fantastic mouth feel

Wished for more coffee, but it’s still Abraxas

Amazing take on a classic.

Delicious... smooth, coffee, chocolatey, vanilla, with just a hint of chili

Love the coffee. Probably my favorite of the three Abraxas not including barrel aged.

Like the original, thick, chocolate and a bit of peppery spice. But the coffee did have a small window that it peaked through. All big beers should stay in bombers! This one is that kind of beer you want to share only w yourself. Try along side smoked oysters w chili peppers!

Quite enjoyed

Roasty although a little thinner than last year. Still a solid coffee stout with fire in the belly

could do without the lactose, also the heat was very muted

One of the best in the game

Toss up between this and the vanilla varietal as the best Abraxas.

Utter perfection!

The cinnamon and chilies were strong throughout, with little to no coffee or vanilla.

Awesome beer. Perfect subtle flavors and doesn’t feel like diabetes in a bottle. Best imperial stout I’ve tried in a long time.

Truly special and spectacular. A coffee beer doesn't get any better than this. Decadent, rich coffee throughout with pops of mocha and cinnamon swirling throughout. All the flavors mesh well, even the ever so slight ancho pepper. Amazing nose on this one.

Loved this on a cool Sunday afternoon!

The coffee didn’t particularly stand out to me, which was a bit disappointing. But the base beer is phenomenal. Broccoli Abraxas would get a similarly high rating from me, so I will it for this one, too.

Coffee rocks this beer.

Really disappointed in this. Lactose does it no favors. Drain poured the last 10oz

So rich and smooth.

An all around excellent stout. Coffee takes the forefront, but it’s balanced with the cinnamon and peppers over a rich chocolate roasty base. Like with regular Abraxas, it has a subtlety I wouldn’t expect from a beer with so much flavor. Love it.

Coffee, barrel, cinnamon

great stout with that pepper heat. but definitely missed the mark on the coffee. very faint at best. would have liked to taste more bold coffee

Thick coffee with a bit of heat

Deliciously spicy with coffee flavor. Let it breathe just a bit to get the spice.

Cinnamon and chocolate up front, the chili and vanilla cut through and soften the bitterness, followed by its return as the coffee comes on in the finish. Lingers sweet and tangy, with a subtle booziness that's deceptively drinkable.

Coffee subtle but welcome

I liked the regular Abraxas much better than coffee. This didn’t taste that special.

Probably my favorite variant but I still prefer the OG

Enjoyed the subtle richness from the coffee addition. My 2nd from the bundle and still no sign of the chili.

excellent coffee stout - stands up next to and even better than some anchorage coffee stouts I’ve had

Great cinnamon and coffee flavors present first and float on top of the outstanding stout base. Spice drops in at the very end and is subtle and warming without destroying the overall flavor profile.
