A Note on This Beer
“Everyday, once a day, give yourself a present. Don’t plan it, don’t wait for it. Just let it happen.” @Dale Cooper (Twin Peaks)
I’ve taken this philosophy to heart over the past year. Today, I gave myself the gift of a snifter of Coffee Shop Vibes, one of the most luxurious Russian Imperial Stouts I’ve had the pleasure of drinking!
The brewers at Shared Brewing — a subset of the award-winning Side Project Brewing — spent the last 3 years refining this recipe.
They began with their velvety “Vibes” Russian Imperial Stout recipe, the brewery’s go-to favorite due to its luxe and versatile nature. Then, they added heaps of coffee beans from their long-time contributor Sump Coffee. Side Project has been working with the master roasters at Sump for the last six years! This partnership has resulted in the selection of carefully chosen pairings for each java-infused brew they craft.
This time around, they chose a medium roast Columbian bean to reduce fruity notes and bring out rich mocha, thick caramel, and robust roasty notes in the brew.
Topped off with a hearty 13% ABV, it’s no wonder folks on Untappd have given this decadent Stout a score of 4.56!
Now that I think about it, maybe I’ll get myself a couple extra bottles before they’re gone — it’s too good a gift to pass up!
Readers of Craft Beer & Brewing magazine voted Side Project as one of the Top 20 Stout brewers of 2020!
