Antares is the 15th brightest star in the night sky, but it’s still not as good as Constellations: Antares Fruited Sour Ale.

First Contest - Fruity-liciousness:

 Antares the beer is HELLA fruity-licious. The brewers at Elder Pine loaded it up with over 1,200 lbs of real raspberries and passionfruit to blast your taste buds straight into interstellar space! It’s like a freshly-blended sweet and tart smoothie with a 5% ABV.

Antares the star is roughly 700 times the diameter of our sun — so pretty damn big — but none of it is made of delicious fruit, as far as I’m aware. Plus, it’s roughly 6,500 degrees. Which means anyone attempting to drink it would burst into flames before they got close enough for a sip. 

In this category, beer is the clear winner. 

Second Contest - Get-ability: 

Anything from Elder Pine is difficult to snag. At just two years old, the brewery has already taken home a medal from the Maryland Craft Beer Awards, and ravenous fans swoop up everything they make long before it crosses state lines. However, we DID manage to get a small stash of Antares Sour, so you CAN score a taste without blasting yourself into space.

Antares the star is roughly 550 light-years away. Way farther than, for instance, Japan. Even in the space shuttle it would take over 20 million years to reach! So yeah, it’s pretty un-gettable. 

That’s another point for beer!

Third Contest - Friend Makery: 

Antares the star probably won’t make you any friends. If you walk up to someone on the street and share all these star facts with them, they’ll think you’re either completely bonkers or a pedantic ass. Believe me, I’ve tried it.

But share a sip of this tart n’ fruity brew with just about anyone, and they’ll wanna be buds for sure! Because who can resist the tropical berry-soaked aromas of this ruby-red Sour?
