A Note on This Beer

You know what’s far too short? Girl Scout cookie season. No matter how many boxes I buy, it’s never near enough to satiate my sweet cravings.

But, thanks to Wild Leap Brew Co.’s talents, I don’t need to wait another year for some entrepreneurial kids to come banging on my door. The crafty Georgia brewers layered today’s thick Imperial Pastry Stout with caramel, coconut, and chocolate, plus a dose of lactose — it tastes like a mouthful of Samoa cookies!

If you drizzled those Samoas all over with a brown sugar liqueur, that is. Heck, the kiddos can’t even touch this 13% ABV booze cookie!

Which is great, because that leaves more for us treat-craving adults. But, you’ll want to move quickly on Wild Leap’s Cookie Season — this release is normally taproom only!

Wild Leap snagged three medals at last year's U.S. Open Beer Championships.

Good combination of chocolate and caramel resting on. the stout base. Coconut is very subtle and a good enhancement.

Very full mouthfeel of Samoa cookies. Just like when I open a package of Samoas

Look: super dark, almost black, light tan small head that doesn’t hang around long, but left a nice ring of foam and some light tan lacing down the glass as we drank. Smell: super sweet dark roast and bittersweet chocolate up front, some blended and roasted coconut with a little booze and some caramel if you reach Taste: sweet dark roast, bittersweet (almost like bakers) chocolate, followed by some caramel notes, the coconut is hidden on the palate but present on the end nose. . The caramel is on the back end, with sweet bitter roast that hangs a while. The super trailing end of the taste is a little boozy but that is well hidden with the sweet bitter roast. No real hop presence, but if you reach you can get some on the end. Feel: full feel, almost syrupy. Light tickle of carbonation. Somewhat drying, sending you back for more. Overall this is a pretty good pastry style stout. The booze is well huddle, but warming none the less. Doesn’t really taste like the girl out cookie they have a pic of, but all flavors are there, but somewhat muddle, one giving rise to the other on the palate and on the nose. Cheers everyone!

Had high hopes, didn’t fulfill. Couldn’t taste coconut or caramel. I did have some taste of chocolate.

Strong enough to put you on the floor! Drink with a friend as it is a bit strong and rich to tackle the whole bottle solo.

Very delicious, but I'm taking a half a point off because the smell of this beer is much more decadent & amazing than the actual flavor when you sip it. I would have probably been content with this beer, had I not smelled the aroma first - but it spoiled me and I would do anything to be able to actually taste it. Go heavier on the cookies next time, please? :)

Sweet and coconut but the ending/ after taste is an oxidized oat that lingered
