A Note on This Beer
When the European Ale experts at Brewery Vivant set out to brew their first Oktoberfest Lager last fall, they didn’t just follow the traditional recipe — they added their own, signature twist!
To brew this festive Lager, the brewers used the caramel malt base from their best-selling Red Ale and added German lager yeast. Then, they blended it with European Noble Hops and just a dash of citrusy Amarillo.
It tastes like a beautiful blend between a Märzen and an Amber Ale, and it’s ready to take your Oktoberfest game to the next level!
The scent is a bouquet of freshly baked bread, warm caramel, and smoky molasses. On the tongue, the brew’s creamy, malty-sweet mouthfeel delights with notes of brown sugar, cracked pepper, and a whisper of fresh cut grass on the finish.
Fans like @superspak say its robust, yet balanced complexity is both rich and “awesomely clean,” not to mention “impressively spot on” for the style!
Brewery Vivant’s deliciously nuanced brews rarely leave their Michigan home, and today, Tavoursters have first crack at this year’s release! I don’t know about you, but I’m strapping on my lederhosen and throwing a few bratwurst on the grill — it’s time to get festive!
Brewery Vivant was recently nominated for USA Today’s Best Brewpub Competition!
