A Note on This Beer
Witches get a bad rap. Sure, some of them might turn people into newts or distribute a few poison apples, but they also hand out ruby slippers and help defeat Voldemort.
Or, in the case of Adroit Theory, brew some really fantastic beer!
These burly Virginia brewers might not look like typical witches, but after tasting today’s Coven (Ghost 1049) Russian Imperial Stout, I’m convinced they’re brewing with magic. Instead of eye of newt, they’re using rich, full-bodied malts to make their cauldron bubble!
And trust me, this stuff is far more inviting than your typical witches’ brew — this sweet sorcery pours black-as-night, with a rich and roasty coffee character and bold baker’s chocolate aromas. Take a sip, and subtle caramel and toffee notes materialize on the tastebuds, balancing the lingering bitterness that swoops in on the finish.
It’s also 100% guaranteed NOT to turn you into a newt, although the massive 12% ABV may inspire you to crawl like one. You might want to invite a couple members of your own crafty coven over to share this magical brew. It’ll leave any Stout fan spellbound!
I’ll understand if you’re skeptical — there’s no such thing as witches, right? But, consider this: over the course of the past year, Adroit has sent us 10 different Stouts, and every single one scored 4+ on Tavour. If that’s not magic, I don’t know what is.
With Tavour, it's easy to beer it forward! Just head over to Tavour.com/gifts to send a gift box or gift card to the craft beer lover in your life. Cheers!
