A Note on This Beer
Denver’s Black Project doesn’t re-release beers too often.
Instead, they maintain their Untappd status as one of the Top 50 Microbreweries in the World and one of the Top 25 Wild Ale Specialists by focusing on highly-complex, limited batches and one-offs. These releases often don’t leave the taproom, much less their home city of Denver.
So, when they do re-release a beer, it’s a big friggin’ deal. Like with today’s ultra-pineappley CROSSROADS.
Both the brewers and the fans loved this Fruited Sour so much the first time, they just had to bring it back. You guys loved it too — you gave it a massive 4.43 Tavour rating the last time we had it!
This 4.30 UT-rated sipper is a layered expression of fruit and hops that you just won’t find in any grocery store beer.
It’s marvelously juicy upfront from dry-hopped Mosaic Cryo and doses of real pineapple during refermentation. Let it linger on the tongue and the brilliance of the two solera Sour Golden Ales blended on the base shines through. The backbone of this beer is barnyard funk mixed with crisp sourdough and pine resin. And, combined with the fruit, it’s darn delicious.
But we’ll be straight with you — you have to grab this tangy sipper RIGHT NOW, because we only got 120 bottles this time around. Miss out now, and we can’t guarantee there’ll be a next time with this one.
Rated 4.45 on Tavour; 4.30 on Untappd!
